Growing up as a young dancer my teacher had a picture just like this above one of the barres I often stood at. The picture intrigued me. It spoke of dedication, determination & hard work, I so admired that person. Ballet is often perceived as “pristine” and the blood sweat and tears behind it are not really understood by the audience. To me this picture is beautiful, to others it may be just a pair of tattered old shoes……as they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
